Rugby aims to topple Football from the pop charts

While association football has long tradition in embracing the supporters song Rugby has never had a single notable supporters song, despite a culture that embraces bawdy songs, rousing anthems and male voice choirs.

That is about to change according to the people behind 'The Voice of a Thousand Men' an unofficial supporters song written for the 2013 British and Irish Lions. The track was released on Monday 27th May and has a promotional video featuring 4 giant hamsters who now have their own Facebook page charting their antics on the tour down under.

Neil Boote, MD of the Ruckstar Rugby Clothing Brand produced the track and video and explains. "In 2001 the vast British and Irish Lions support behind the first test match win shocked the Wallabies into giving away tickets and amplifying the home supporters to counteract it. The Voice of a Thousand Men is a plea to the traveling fans in 2013 to remember their responsibility to represent the majority back home with their voice."

The Ruck Stars were created specially for the record with West London professional musician Jim Sole doing the lead vocal and performing energetically tn the video to say the least."

"Our aim is to get Rugby to number 1 before the Tour ends in early July, and raise some money for the Wooden Spoon Rugby Children's charity in the process."
