LONDON’S CALLING FOR THE SAVA SCHOOL OF SURVEYING

After running successful surveying courses in Milton Keynes and Barnsley, the SAVA School of Surveying is heading to the capital.

January 2016 marks the London launch of the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation. On Wednesday 27th January, the SAVA School of Surveying is hitting the capital to introduce its first London course. SAVA’s diploma is the only vocational route into the residential surveying profession that is fully backed by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

SAVA developed the course to help bridge a gap in the market for qualified surveyors and offers those without a relevant undergraduate degree the opportunity to pursue a surveying career. With a blend of face-to-face and online learning, the school opens the door to prestigious RICS membership without the need to commit to full-time study. The course is specially crafted so that it directly satisfies the requirements for direct entry into RICS at Associate member level (AssocRICS) and provides valuable practical experience to ensure its graduates are both confident and competent in their roles.

Training begins in May 2016 and will take place in Central London. Hilary Grayson, Head of Surveying Services at SAVA, says about the launch, “We are incredibly excited about delivering a course in London, the home of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. RICS acknowledges that there is a skills shortage in the industry. With the diploma, we can go a long way to plugging this gap, with some learners completing their training in just 18 to 24 months – a far cry from the 3-5 years needed to complete a university degree.”

Steve Funnell, current learner at the SAVA School, says of the course, “I would recommend it to anyone. It’s a great course; well-structured, presented superbly and the systems are user-friendly.” Since undertaking the course, Steve has been offered a trainee position at a surveying firm who are supporting him through his qualification.

Once qualified, SAVA graduates can gain direct entry into RICS to produce RICS products such as the HomeBuyer Report and valuations. In addition, the diploma also awards graduates membership to the SAVA Scheme to produce the Home Condition Survey. With these memberships, surveyors can work independently and market themselves, or seek employment within existing surveying firms.

The SAVA School of Surveying takes on a maximum of 150 learners per academic year, with just 40 places available in London.
