SHM Entertainment Ltd files patents for stock market games on mobile and tablet

SHM Entertainment Ltd (“SHM”) today completed filing patents with the US Patent and Trademark Office for stock market games it has designed and developed for mobile and tablet.

The games, branded Fat Cat, allow players to play stock market games on their smartphones or tablets. The flagship product allows players to compete for a lottery style jackpot where spinning balls are replaced by stock picks. Other games allow players to compete with each other directly in winner-takes-all tournaments.

Sulim Malook, director at SHM, commented, “We have added new games formats to our original patent application. Our games and apps are unique. It gives me great personal pleasure to have our designs lodged. My journey began with designing and deploying Blue, a financial mobile app that was the most downloaded under the stocks and investment category on BlackBerry every week for three straight years and relied on by financial professionals in 180 countries. This experience has culminated in a new, exciting product that leverages financial markets in a way more in line with touch screen technology and gaming favoured by today’s iPhone and Android users.”

Further patents will be filed in other key territories, where gaming and soft gambling has started to take off.

Malook continued, “We are well positioned to rollout the games at a time when lotteries are looking to market to a new digital audience that has for some time shunned buying lottery tickets. Everywhere there is a stock market, we hope to rollout our games. The opportunity is truly global and consequently it was imperative that we protected our intellectual property.”
