Press release -

SkiStar opens for skiing in the Austrian skiresort of St. Johann

It's time to open for skiing at SkiStar's new ski resort, St. Johann in Tirol. SkiStar has developed and improved the snow-making facilities at the Austrian resort in time for this winter. Together with the recent cold period, this means that the resort will be opening on Thursday 8 December.

- It's really great to also be able to open for skiing in St. Johann, our new addition to the SkiStar family. This means that all six of our ski resorts are open for the winter and we look forward to being able to offer our Christmas and New Year guests truly great skiing," said Linda Morell, PR Manager at SkiStar.

It is the gondola Harschbichl and the chairlift Jodelalm that will be opening on 8 December. Skiing will be possible from the top to the middle of the ski area. If the cold persists, the slopes down into the valley will also open. See SkiStar St. Johann's LPW (Lifts, Pistes and Weather) on skistar.com for the latest information about what lifts and pistes are open and the weather.

- We always aim to make our guests' skiing holidays as active and fun as possible. We are therefore very pleased to be able to introduce the free service MySkiStar for St. Johann's skiing guests this winter. Membership enhances your skiing experience by allowing you to track your skiing statistics, including the number of runs and vertical metres skied and to earn rewards based on your skiing, explained Linda Morell.

St. Johann is located in the heart of the Austrian Tyrol and has three international airports within a radius of 150 km (Munich, Innsbruck and Salzburg), as well as trains that stop right in the centre of the village. The north side of the Kitzbüheler Horn offers varied skiing, with 42 kilometres of pistes at altitudes up to 1,604 metres above sea level. SkiStar has been the majority owner of the ski resort since the spring, and it will be opening for skiing on 8 December. You can load your ski pass and pre-book hotels, apartments and cabins via skistar.com/stjohann. A 15% online discount on ski passes is offered for purchases at least two weeks before arrival in St. Johann.
