Press release -

What information do you have that could save your life?

You should always carry an ICEcard.

ICEcard.co.uk produces a range of In Case of Emergency cards that provide First Responders with vital information that could save lives in the event of an emergency. Our range includes general In Case of Emergency cards, Medical Information cards, as well as our series of condition specific cards, such as Epilepsy, Diabetes, Autism, Hearing Impaired, Severe Allergy, and many more.

Our range also includes child specific cards, with a broad range of autism spectrum cards, as well as child diabetes and epilepsy. These cards have been created with a more child appealing artwork so as to make it something kids are happy to carry. Many of the cards in this range have supporting and corresponding PARENT cards which read MY CHILD HAS (autism, aspergers, special needs, etc… ), which help alert responders to care for the needs of a child, even if that child is not carrying his or her card.

Our range has grown quickly and organically, based on our research as well as the feedback we have received from the public. We’ve been contacted by many caring employers, some of which have employees in ‘risk-based’ jobs, looking out for the welfare of their team. We are often contacted by groups and organisations alerting us to consider the needs of their members. This feedback has been invaluable. We’ve come to learn much about the challenges faced by many of these groups and the risks associated with the misconceptions often applied to them and we’ve done our best to grow our range to accommodate those needs.

There was a story very recently on the BBC with the headline: “Epileptic seizures 'not recognised by police and law officers” The article highlighted the lack of knowledge, even amongst professionals, about the symptoms of such conditions, the result of which can cause insensitivity, and worse yet, inaccurate or insufficient treatment. It’s stories like this, and those we have heard from our customers, that make us very aware of the need to carry your crucial medical information as well as appropriate contact details.

The concept of carrying In Case of Emergency details began years ago, with a public campaign encouraging people to keep such information in their mobile phones. Though we strongly support this practice, we know that phones don’t always work and are sometimes difficult to access. We must also consider that, in the event of an emergency, phones could end up broken or lost. We have also received feedback from some first responders telling us that they are reluctant to attempt to access a person’s mobile phone for fear of being held accountable for damages. In any event, we believe it is best to carry additional information in a format that allows for easy access and concise information.

Because we recognise that people may also be reluctant to go through handbags or pockets looking for information, our cards come with corresponding key rings, which alert responders to the fact that the bearer carries In Case of Emergency information on their person, making it not only permissible, but advisable to check for their card.

Our company was started up only a few years ago, but we hope to be around for many years to come, helping people stay confident that they will receive the help they need, should they need it.
