Jubilating Solar Weekend announces music-line up

EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS - Solar Weekend celebrates its tenth anniversary with a diverse program, the organization Extrema just announced. Techno, house, jazz, African beats, hiphop and other music styles amicably coexist on the roster, with an additional varied line-up of artists and creative collectives. The 4-day festival at the Maasplassen in Roermond this year takes place July 31st - August 3th and is themed ’Sprook’, the grown-up, gritty form of fairytale.

Over the last ten years Solar Weekend has grown from a progressive initiative into one of the most creative festivals of the Netherlands. The diversity is seen in the deep programming, which is spread over eight stages and comprises of everything from steaming house to deep techno, and from energetic hip-hop to classical and jazz. Placed in an enchanting setting, build by the many artists.

Springboard
Through the years Solar Weekend has become a veritable springboard for the creative industry.
From trash robots to wild-chrocheting, from see-saw chickens and exciting theater to love doctors and DIY pirate ships, it makes Solar Weekend particularly suited for creatives to flourish. For the visitor Solar is the place of surprises and exploring for new adventures in a long, magical festival weekend.

Variety
Playing the mainstage will be American breaks star Bassnectar with his spectacular, raw performance full of light, sound and effects. The explosive and raw electro set by Boys Noize is also sure to be a highlight. Dutch hiphop heroes Great Minds and Kraantje Pappie have already proven to be crowd-pleasers, while Hans Teeuwen & The Painkillers will be a jazzy surprise. Further spectacular live performances by Hercules & Love Affair and the blistering collaboration between Noisia and Foreign Beggars, I Am Legion; to crown it all a performance by Hudson Mohawke.
It is just a taste of the chock-full program (attached file eventually website).

Building together
Solar Weekend stands for ’building together’ and as such, reconstruction. Joost van Bellen’s Rauwlab, featuring acts like Aeroplane and pioneer Green Velvet. The two days in The Techy Tent will be hosted by different parties. On Saturday it will be the domain of Joris Voorn, with support by Kölsch, Dominik Eulberg & Gabriel Ananda and Timo Maas, among others. Dave Clarke is Sunday’s host, bringing friends like Berlin underground hero Marcel Fengler, Octave One and Technasia along.

In the Container Compound booking agencies Bespoke & Missin’ Link will present the best live hiphop both Saturday and Sunday, with acts like Mr. Polska, Ronnie Flex, Gery Mendes, Rico & ART, Typhoon and Broederliefde. The VAgE gASTEN area returns and of course the House Of House, featuring among others Franky Rizardo, Chocolate Puma, Shermanology, The Shapeshifters, Hardsoul and Gramophonedzie.

Upgrade Beach Camping
Solar’s beach camping, with its Camping Tent and Camping Beach stages, is an integral part of
the holiday experience. The facilities have therefore been upgraded for this tenth edition. To ensure better thoroughfare and more space the dance tent has been moved, there will be more showers and covered flush toilets will be placed. To prevent the need to haul food along a food market will be available on the camping grounds. Everything to make this anniversary edition of Solar Weekend the ultimate edition on all fronts.
