Solar Weekend Festival completely sold-out for the fifth time consecutively!

ROERMOND, THE NETHERLANDS – The jubilating Solar Weekend Festival has sold out for the fifth time consecutively, the organization Extrema just announced. Solar is among the most creative festivals of the Netherlands and takes place starting Thursday at the Maasplassen in Roermond. The event has a grown-up version of ”Fairtytale” as its theme, which makes for rugged, wayward, unique and creative stories to be told. Solar celebrates its tenth anniversary.

The sold-out Solar Weekend Festival takes place Thursday July 31st - Sunday August 3rd and houses 27.000 visitors daily. The camping has room for 14.000 campers. Spread over two festival days and four nights visitors are immersed in over 125 different creative projects. The musical program is divided over eight stages; from steaming house to energetic hiphop and deep techno to classical and jazz, anything goes. More than a thousand creatives worked on the festival to build a fairytale-like fantasy world at the Maasplassen, together with the visitors.

Thundering Thursday
After last year’s huge succes the beach camping opens again on Thursday evening this year for the owners of the Holiday Tickets, sold out months in advance. On this Thundering Thursday visitors can prepare for the festival and numerous creative and interactive activities are scheduled, such as the ”Kleddernat op Oorlogspad” water fight, Blacklight Badminton in the dark and a fairytale-like movie showing. Furthermore a campfire at the lake, acoustic music and a barbecue. 

Opening ritual
The by now legendary opening ritual of Solar Weekend Festival is also on the program. The organization would not comment on what will happen, but states ”On Filthy Friday you can’t be afraid of some paint here and there”. The colorful splashing starts at 16:00, after which everybody can dive into the preparties with, among others, FeestDJRuud, Sticky Fingers, W&DY and Niko Charidis. The camping program lasts to deep in the night and is the start of two whole festival days on Saturday and Sunday, when Hercules and Love Affair, Boys Noize, Goldfish, Staygold, Joost van Bellen, Shermanology, Dave Clarke, The Opposites, Great Minds and Joris Voorn, among others, will perform at the sold-out Solar Weekend Festival.
