Gioconda nears completion of major overhaul of HD signal sighting software

Input from railway professionals has been a vital element in reworking the newly branded G-RASTx which includes many new and enhanced features. One of the key changes is that it now runs on both Microsoft and Apple operating systems following requests from many users of the current version.

Other key changes to the already highly successful product include a totally redesigned interface, which allows high definition output on a single monitor or projector, while moving all input and control palettes to a second display.

Brief tutorials on the new product will be on offer to visitors when it is showcased on stand D05 at this year’s Infrarail event.

New features include a session logging and recording feature which will provide a full historical record of all decisions made in the development of a signal sighting project, semi-automatic generation of a fully compliant signal sighting form and the ability to create automatic entries for required and actual reading distances.

A current capability for basic asset logging is due for expansion in a future release giving the ability for full asset survey and output in Network Rail's Intelligent Schemeplan.

Gioconda director and chief architect of the new G-RASTx Simon Crittenden explained: “Gioconda’s aim to produce a ‘Start to Finish’ solution to asset logging and signal sighting projects will take a big step forward with this new release.

“We firmly believe that the only way to produce usable tools for professionals is to listen to those who are going to use them.”
