Gioconda’s Infrarail seminar offers insight into signal sighting safety

The MD of desktop signal sighting experts Gioconda is to run a seminar at this year’s Infrarail event aimed at showing the safety and cost savings improvements created by using virtual reality 3D modelling and HD technology to plan signal sighting

The seminar, Is Seeing Believing, will demonstrate how the user can manipulate HD video models in real-time to look at options and design changes before or during an SSC meeting. Simon Gardiner, whose company developed the world’s first high definition desktop signal sighting technology, will be speaking on the first day of the exhibition at NEC, Tuesday May 1st at 12.30pm, shortly after the official opening by transport minister Theresa Villiers. The presentation will cover signal sighting with automatic form creation, signal immunisation, constructability, driver briefing and transferring models to training simulators. Simon will cite references to Gioconda’s work on major projects such as Thameslink, the North West Electrification programme and EGIP. Simon Gardiner explained: “We’ve won more contracts for signal sighting than our competitors over the last 12 months. The government’s investment in railway infrastructure provides a massive potential for growth and we are actively positioning ourselves to be a major source of signal sighting services for the HS2 project.” Attendees at the seminar and visitors to Gioconda’s stand, D05, can also enter its judge the distance competition with the chance to win a Kindle Fire. * Gioconda MD Simon Gardiner, pictured with director Simon Crittenden, is presenting a seminar on desktop signal sighting on Tuesday May 1st at 12.30pm at this year’s Infrarail at the NEC
