Gioconda’s judge the distance competition offers chance to win a Kindle

The competition will see visitors to stand D05 using some of Gioconda’s HD and 3D virtual reality signal sighting tools to help them reach accurate answers. They will also be able to enjoy brief tutorials on the company’s revolutionary high definition software package the G-RAST - Route Assessment & Sighting Tool - which is in the final stages of a major overhaul to upgrade it to G-RASTx. Gioconda, which devised the world’s first HD desktop railway signal sighting technology by combining high definition video and 3D virtual reality modelling to improve rail passenger safety and save money for Network Rail, has been heavily involved with risk based signal sighting on the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme, Thameslink and Cardiff. Previous competitions run by Gioconda, no strangers to injecting fun into the world of railway signalling, include a photographic contest which asked rail professionals to send in photographs featuring one of their popular rubber ‘stress trains’ in weird and wonderful locations. The stress trains – this year’s collection is orange – are also available on the stand and offer an effective, cheap and drug free treatment for difficult days in the office! * Gioconda MD Simon Gardiner is offering Infrarail visitors the chance to win a Kindle Fire in its judge the distance competition on stand D05 – and take away a popular rubber stress train.
