Lucy Stanhope becomes all-around English gymnastics champion

Twelve-year-old Lucy Stanhope from Warrington became the all-around champion at the Espoir English Championships which was held in Wigan from March 14 to 16.

The SportsAid-supported athlete also won a silver medal on the beam and narrowly missed out on medals on bars and the floor.

She trains at the City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club and is a member of the Great Britain high performance national squad. This is the first year in which she has been supported by SportsAid and on her nomination for this support, British Gymnastics said, "If Lucy keeps progressing as she has in the last 12 months she should be looking to represent GReat Britain in the next 12 months working towards [the] Olympic Hopefuls competition in November 2014."
