1 in 5 admit to Secret Snooping in an effort to steal the style of neighbours inspiring interiors

1 in 5 homeowners have admitted to being a ‘Secret Snooper’, using property websites like Zoopla and RightMove to get design inspiration from people in similar properties, according to new research from leading bathroom specialist, Heritage Bathrooms.

The survey also found that the holiday season is also likely to lead to 41% of travellers heading home from their holidays this summer with their sights firmly set on home improvement, inspired by the gorgeous interiors of boutique and luxury hotels enjoyed during their stay. In a choice between bathroom, dining room and bedroom, 58% of people plan to give their bathroom a new five star overhaul.

Interior designer, Charlotte Conway provides her top tips on using hotel bathroom interior schemes effectively in your own home:

“It’s no wonder that home owners in the UK are eager to upgrade their bathrooms, with a third of us still contending with coloured bathroom suites and hotel inspired luxury being one of the biggest prompts to propel people into action to create that deluxe boudoir feel.

“Create some real impact with a statement bath and an equally eye-catching wallpaper to draw people in – just keep in mind the space and ventilation you have. Colour blocking is very on trend at the moment and looks amazing if you can find the right balance - I love mixing darker colours with pastels to create that perfect brooding sense of romanticism without it feeling overly feminine.

“The key is making sure you stay true to your style and taste. Bring some of your personal pieces together displayed on a little tray, whether it be on a piece of marble or something more decorative and shiny, it introduces a touch of personal style and something you would see in a boutique hotel displaying the beautiful lotions and potions.

“There are so many options available to customise your bathroom this summer, including some striking textiles from high street shops, geometric designed towels and even mounted decorative plates, or grab a paintbrush and get those creative juices flowing.”
