Passionate about work

Düsseldorf, October 2011. Four out of five European professionals and executives love their jobs and do it passionately. These are the findings of a recent survey among 10.711 participants, conducted by European job board StepStone. According to this poll, 68% of all European workers also believe that their passion improves their working results. Only one out of ten Europeans claimed that working passionately does not compulsively causes better results.

"The results are quite gratifying. Employees, who are highly motivated, are the key to every corporate success story. With the War for Talent on the go, employers need to promote passion amongst their employees", says Ralf Baumann, StepStone CEO.

The international comparison shows the differences between European countries. Denmark is the most enthusiastic country. Here, 86% are dedicated to work. Employees in other Scandinavian countries also feel strongly committed to their jobs: In Norway and Sweden, 84% stated that they enjoy working. Only one European country is as thrilled about work as the Scandinavian ones are: the Netherlands. 84% of the Dutch claimed to love their jobs. Here, employees are also quite self-confident: Three out of four polled think that their passion surely grades up their work results.

Compared to these results, professionals and executives from other European countries seem less keen on work: In Germany and Belgium, only three out of four of those polled responded to love their jobs. In France, the case is even worse: Almost one out of three French employees has no fun in his job!
