Andover therapy centre set to Make May Purple for stroke
An Andover therapy centre is supporting the Stroke Association’s national awareness month, Make May Purple.
The Stroke Association is calling on everyone to sign up to Make May Purple in 2018. During the month of May, the charity is encouraging everyone to go purple pounds and raise vital funds for its work supporting people who have been affected by stroke.
I Can Therapy Centre in Andover is showing its support by hosting a stroke awareness day on Friday 25 May. Liz MurrayCommunity Health Development Manager for Valley Leisure Ltd said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Stroke Association to raise awareness. Here at I Can Therapy Centre, we believe that there is life after stroke. By working in partnership with likeminded organisations who aim to enable and support those affected by stroke, we know we will make a positive difference for those looking to regain independence and wellbeing.
“We are thrilled that Dr Sara Payne MBE will be joining us on the day. Sara’s drive and sheer determination is a true inspiration to anyone affected by stroke, and she has proven that it is certainly possible to regain independence and mobility following a life changing event.”
In the UK stroke is the leading cause of disability and there are 1.2 million people living with the physical and emotional after effects. The money raised through Make May Purple for Stroke will enable the charity to support many more stroke survivors regain their independence.
Mandy Souter, Support Coordinator for the Stroke Association said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the I Can Therapy Centre team for all their support throughout the month and helping to put the spotlight on stroke.
“Make May Purple is a fun and easy way for everyone to show their support for stroke survivors and we hope that as many people as possible will join in. Whether you choose to wear purple, dye your hair purple, decorate your office or school in purple, we can’t wait to see how Norfolk will Make May Purple.”
