Footballing legend comes to Leeds for World Cup Sporting Dinner
The Stroke Association will host a glittering Sporting Dinner with England 1966 World Cup winner,
Gordon Banks OBE, on Friday 17th October.
Taking place at the Leeds Marriott Hotel in partnership with Spire Leeds Hospital, guests will enjoy a drinks reception and three course evening meal, before listening to football hero Gordon speak about
his impressive career and take part in a Q&A session. Football and sports memorabilia
will also be up for grabs in a raffle and auction on the night.
The goalkeeping legend made over 600 appearances during a 15 year career in the Football League, and won 73 caps for his country. Gordon was voted the greatest save of all time for his save against Pelé in the 1970 World Cup.
Jo Beverley, Regional Fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “It’s fantastic to give football
fans the chance to meet their hero, all while raising money for the Stroke Association. Gordon Banks is hugely inspirational and will no doubt have some fascinating stories to share on the evening. The event is already proving popular with foodies and football fans alike.
“The money raised through the event will help our work to prevent strokes and reduce their effect through campaigning, education and research. It will also help us to support people adjusting to a life after stroke in Yorkshire and Humberside. We’re very grateful to Spire Leeds Hospital for their support to help us to conquer stroke.”

VIP Tickets cost £100 or two for £180, which include a champagne and canapé reception, three course meal including coffee and a meet, greet and photograph with Gordon Banks.
