Stars sparkle for Stroke Awards

Karren Brady, Apprentice star, businesswoman and patron of The Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Awards joined iconic British actor Christopher Biggins for the charity’s star-studded event at London’s Dorchester Hotel on 12 June.

The awards recognise and celebrate the amazing achievements of stroke survivors, their carers and those that support them in their life after stroke.

The charity’s celebrity supporters, attending the glittering Awards to present to the winners,  included:

Tamsin Greig, Russell Howard, Lord Sugar, Nick Hewar, Hilary Devey, Tim Vine, Stephen K Amos, Andrew Marr, Matthew Hoggard, Phillyda Law, Michael Lynagh, Dr James Logan, Lynda Bellingham, Amanda Lamb, Sian Lloyd, Kim Woodburn, MasterChef 2014 winnerPing Coombes,  The Voice UK winner  Jermain Jackman, and funny man Markus Birdman.

A stroke is a brain attack which happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, caused by a clot or bleeding in the brain.
