Jul 06, 2011 10:22 BST People working within the Church of Sweden who become aware of something that the social welfare services need to act on to protect a child shall have an obligation to report this. This is proposed in a communication to the General Synod that this autumn will address the issues surrounding secrecy and confidentiality obligations in the Church of Sweden.

May 23, 2011 13:10 BST “The best protection against sexual abuse in our Church contexts is to break the silence,” says Archbishop Anders Wejryd. “Each offence is one too many, and suspected crimes must be reported to the police so that a legal assessment can take place. Since 1998, the Church of Sweden has worked actively on guidelines and strategic measures to combat and deal with sexual abuse.”
