Destination Swedish Lapland had an increase with 14% in December 2011

The preliminary tourist statistics for the year 2011 in Sweden has been presented. The destination Swedish Lapland shows an increase with 17% in December and a total increase of 6% for the whole year. All markets, except The Netherlands, increased during 2011. The largest increase was found from Germany with +40%, followed by France +20% and USA + 12%. The increase from Great Britain was also high with +8%.

- It is very nice get a confirmation from the markets that our guests appreciate our unique experiences. We have two exceptional selling points in ICEHOTEL and Tree Hotel, but also the Sami culture, the winter products and hiking in the summer under the Midnight sun. The Nordic Light is best seen in Swedish Lapland of all places in the world and will be a bestseller for the coming years, says Jan-Erik Jaensson, Managing Director of Swedish Lapland Tourism.
