Positive development in TDC Group’s mobile business

TDC Group generated revenue in 2017 of DKK 20.3 billion, while the operating profit (EBITDA) landed on DKK 8.2 billion, which is a stable organic development compared to 2016. The group delivered a strong cash flow, which increased by 17 percent to DKK 2.4 billion, while investments (capex) increased 3 percent to DKK 4.5 billion. All these results are in line with or better than the outlook which TDC Group presented at the beginning of the year.

“I am satisfied with the result, which testifies to the fact that our strategic initiatives and investments are contributing positively to the development of our business. I am particularly proud that our mobile business is seeing growth for the second consecutive year, and that we in 2018 will reach an important milestone by stabilising and growing our business,” says Group CEO Pernille Erenbjerg.

At the end of 2017, TDC Group had 3.0 million mobile customers in Denmark, which is 56,000 more than at the beginning of the year. In the last three months of the year, there were 3,000 new customers, and earnings from mobile customers has been growing every quarter.

Streaming sees strong growth
In recent years, there have been big changes in both the international and especially in the Danish TV markets. This is, among other things, reflected in the consumption on YouSee’s streaming app, which over the past year has increased by almost 50 percent – growth which is significantly above that of competing streaming services.

“I am pleased to see that our customers are increasingly aware of our many digital solutions, for instance that their content is accessible on all platforms,” says Pernille Erenbjerg, and continues:

“In the new financial year, we want to make our entertainment universe even more attractive by offering more unique content to our customers and by making it much easier to select and deselect content across channels and streaming services, and also by supplying the content via a new 4K TV box and app.”

TDC Group is maintaining its market share in the Danish TV market, while in Norway the number of TV customers has grown in the past two quarters.

In connection with the publication of the TDC Group’s financial statements, the company states that its guidance for 2018 is an organic EBITDA growth from zero to a minor increase, which would be a milestone after several years of EBITDA decline. TDC Group also expects its cash flow to land on the same level or higher. This is an upward adjustment in relation to the ambition which was set two years ago in connection with the launch of the 2016-18 strategy ‘Always simpler and better’.
