Record order for TDC: picks up 60 municipalities in Norway

TDC has landed its largest contract to date on the Norwegian market – and its biggest ever outside Denmark. Under the terms of the contract, TDC is to supply mobile and landline telephony services to 60 Norwegian municipalities as well as the three counties of Buskerud, Telemark and Vestfold, where the municipalities are located. The contract has been signed with the joint purchasing unit BTV Innkjøp.

“It was simple to choose TDC as they scored highest on all our variables. We already have good experience from working with TDC in the area of broadband, and we are looking forward to expanding the relationship to include telephony as well,” says Roy Pettersen, Head of Purchasing at BTV Innkjøp.

The contract entails TDC supplying 18,500 mobile subscriptions for county and municipal staff, as well as delivering landline telephony and other services.

“We are very pleased with the agreement which, of course, is of major financial value to TDC. At the same time, it positions us as a strong challenger on the Norwegian market. In many ways, it constitutes a milestone in our Nordic strategy to target the commercial market,” explains Jens Munch-Hansen, Senior Executive Vice President, TDC Nordic.

Some details remain to be finalised in the agreement, which is to run for two years – with an option to extend for a corresponding period – but it is likely to be worth around DKK 50 million a year to TDC.

This record order in Norway follows a number of contracts with other public sector customers that TDC has won in the region. Last year, for example, TDC landed contracts with Skatteverket – the Swedish Tax Agency – and the Swedish municipality of Västerås.

In 2012, TDC generated revenue of DKK 4.8 billion in Norway, Sweden and Finland, and TDC Nordic achieved growth of 7.3%.
