Press release -

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK opens a Chapter in Newcastle, North East England to further strengthen Anglo-Swedish business ties

27 May 2010

“Newcastle has geographical and historical ties to Sweden and Scandinavia”, says Annika Wahlberg, Managing Director, Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK. “The location of the region in the northeast of England, two international airports and three main ports further establishes it as a large exporting hub, and is already the home to Swedish businesses”.

Caroline Theobald, Swedish Consul in Newcastle and founder of the Bridge Club Ltd, an expert provider of contacts and connections, will become the Chapter Chairman. “I am delighted to be able to launch and develop this Anglo-Swedish initiative and to work with the business community from both countries”, says Caroline Theobald. The Chapter will be responsible for hosting events, facilitating networking and information about Sweden and the UK, jointly with the secretariat in London.

“We hope to be able to launch the Chapter at an event during the autumn”, says Annika Wahlberg. The date and details of the launch event will be announced later on in the year.

The Chapter is the fourth regional Chapter of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK, following the Northern Chapter, based in Manchester, the Midlands Chapter, based in Birmingham and the Humber Chapter, based in Immingham. The head office and the secretariat is based in central London.
