Leaders in Sport at The Business Show

There’s much a business leader can learn from a leader in sport. That’s why the 34th edition of The Business Show, taking place at Olympia London on the 3rd and 4th of December, has invited three of the UK’s highest achieving and most recognisable sports figures; England cricket captain Alastair Cook MBE, England international footballer Ryan Bertrand, and David Gold, serial entrepreneur and co-owner of West Ham United.

Performing in elite sport brings with it a diverse range of challenges; both physically and mentally, modern day sport demands unconditional commitment, allowing very little room for exception. With ubiquitous media coverage, the performances and success of professional athletes has never been under more scrutiny, where the line between hero and villain is glaringly fine.

Rarely does this apply more than to the captain of a national side, and Alastair Cook, England’s all-time leading Test run scorer, is a perennial figure in the media, whether it’s for his achievements, leadership or decision making. Alistair will provide insights into his approach in leading the national team across the globe against some of the game’s best and most competitive teams in front of the world’s most partisan crowds.

Ryan Bertrand is an established Premier League star, securing a place in 2015’s Premier League Team of the Year for his outstanding endeavours for Southampton, where he helped them achieve only their second qualification into European competition in the last 30 years. Ryan will talk to visitors about how they can reach their potential and achieve what they’re capable of, drawing on his own experiences of motivating himself to become a Champions League winner and international footballer.

David Gold has been one of the UK’s most active entrepreneurs for the last five decades, most notably as the owner of Ann Summers and as co-owner of first Birmingham City, and then his beloved West Ham United. Involved in football since the early 1990s, David has devoted a great deal to the clubs he has led, experiencing both considerable highs and lows during this time, and always taking responsibility for the direction of his football club. David will be the subject of a Q&A session at the show, providing a fascinating recount of his inspiring journey from abject poverty to influential businessman.

Over two days, in excess of 350 exhibitors will showcase the latest goods and services at The Business Show; there’s also more than 250 seminars, and over 140 masterclasses delivered to you by an array of world-class speakers, providing you with an unparalleled level of knowledge, information, and guidance.

In addition to this, there are networking opportunities on a national and international scale; here, you have the invaluable chance to make direct contact with more than 25,000 businesses, and potentially create a long-lasting business relationship.

The British Business Show will run alongside two other distinguished business shows; Business Startup, and Going Global. This December will also see the debut of Techpreneur, the event for early stage and start-up tech businesses.

About The Prysm Group

Prysm Group launched its first exhibition back in April 2000. The exhibition attracted so much interest from the wider business fraternity that a sister show was added to promote development and expansion for established businesses. 15 years on, The Great British Business Show is now the UK’s largest business event, running twice yearly and bringing huge numbers of exhibitors and visitors together. We are targeting a minimum of two launch events every six months, and growing the Business Show into a 100,000 square metre event within three years. Find out more at www.prysmgroup.co.uk
