REPLACING THE NEEDLE & THREAD WITH SWEDISH SIMPLICITY AND STYLE

People in Sweden are replacing the traditional needle and thread method of repairing shirt buttons. They're doing it with a new product developed by award winning industrial designer Karolina Räntfors. The product is elegant, durable and easy to use. It’s called tic® – and is a simple Swedish solution to a real problem. The product has recently become available in markets outside of Scandinavia.

Industrial designer and entrepreneur, Karolina Räntfors, has successfully created a product that replaces the traditional needle and thread. She also tamed three dragons, in the Swedish version of the BBC success show Dragons Den.

With some of Scandinavia’s most established businessmen on board the Tic Sweden company was founded. International patents have been granted and tic® is the company’s official trademark.

Tic Sweden's product is replacing the needle and thread method of fastening and repairing shirt buttons. It even received an honorary prize in one of Sweden’s prevalent industry forums (PlastForum). The judges stating: This is a solution to a classic problem with potential for the entire world market.

Earlier this year, after thousands of tests and 18 months of modification and refinement, the full scale production and packaging of tic® was finalised.

Sweden’s exclusive department stores, Nordiska Kompaniet in Stockholm and Gothenburg, were some of the first retailers of tic®. There are already over 50 Swedish clothing boutiques, suit shops, menswear stores, gift and design boutiques selling tic®.

Global interest in tic® is growing. Tic Sweden is now exporting the product outside Scandinavia. For the United Kingdom reliable distributors are being appointed. Distribution is also planned for Japan. In Sweden tic® is sold at specialist clothing, design, gift and menswear shops. One package of four will retail in the UK at £4.99. tic® is also available through the Tic Sweden homepage, where worldwide shipping is free until 31/12/2012.

The product is one in a series of many simple Swedish innovations spreading around the world. It is designed, manufactured and packaged in Sweden. This ensures high standards of production are kept and a product of high quality produced. Swedish production also provides the ethical and environmental safeguards that Karolina and the Tic Sweden company consider important.
