The football site Topleague.co.uk starts connecting to the blogosphereDec 15, 2009 06:30 GMT
Now bloggers who write about articles on Topleague.co.uk get better visibility and more readers. The football site Topleague.co.uk is first in the UK to connect their content to the blogosphere with the blog service Twingly Blogstream.
With Twingly Blogstream, Topleague.co.uk launches a moderated trackback function which allows the web site to present links to all blog posts about each individual article. Twingly Blogstream is used by more than 100 leading European newspapers, magazines and television channels, such as Handelsblatt in Germany, Politiken in Denmark, Público in Portugal and De Telegraaf in Holland. Topleague.co.uk is the first website in the UK to launch the service.
"Football is widely discussed among bloggers and we follow many blogs which are passionate about every detail related to the Premier League," said Nick Walsh, editor of Topleague.co.uk. "Connecting our editorial content to the blogosphere adds value to our articles. We also want to give something back to the bloggers that comment on our articles, in this case a link back and visibility on our website."
For Topleague.co.uk, connecting to the blogosphere is one of several ways to interact in the social media to create greater visitor engagement as the site works actively with a weekly podcast “Betcast Weekly” and Facebook. The media sites that already use Twingly Blogstream have experienced an increased number of visitors and greater attention in the blogosphere.
“Our goal is to reach out to a wider group of readers, but we also want to create a commitment by opening up for discussion” said Magnus Hugemark, Marketing Manager for Topleague.co.uk. “That is why we focus on social media and bloggers.”
Twingly Blogstream is a service provided by the Swedish search company Twingly. In the UK, the company serves the BBC and its service Shownar with blog data. Topleague.co.uk is the company's first customer in the UK using Twingly Blogstream.
"A search in our blog search engine Twingly.com shows that there are 20 million English-speaking blogs and thousands of them are entirely focusing on football and the Premier League," said Twingly CEO Martin Källström. "We are very glad that we get our first customer in the UK to open up for this big blogosphere."
