Press release -

Bringing a new regional IT event to the Midlands

With just over two weeks left to register for the UKITA EXPO, places are still up for grabs for both member and non-member companies wanting to attend and exhibit at the forthcoming event, being held at the University of Wolverhampton’s Telford Innovation Campus on 24 October.

Andrew Corbett, Director at UKITA, is encouraging anyone who has not yet registered their attendance to sign up here: http://agmexpo2012.eventbrite.co.uk/.

The event’s theme is “Thriving in a Double-dip Recession” and it is run by the UK IT Association (UKITA), the trade association for UK SME IT companies which was founded and has its headquarters in the Midlands.

Andrew comments: “The Midlands has been lacking an annual technology exhibition and conference since the demise of Advantage West Midlands, and so we want to establish a new event for IT and digital companies from across the region. Rather than travelling to London to hear from industry experts and attend workshops, UKITA is bringing them to the West Midlands. Designed to inspire, motivate, educate and provide business opportunities to the region’s technology businesses, we are piloting the concept and initially looking to attract 50+ delegates and have space for up to 20 exhibitors with the intention of running a significantly larger event in 2013.”

The event includes a keynote from BT’s Ian Binks on Super, Ultra and Open Fibre broadband; while there will be other talks on Innovation, Google Apps and website development. Additionally, the event will provide an opportunity for current and prospective members to hear more about UKITA’s plans and performance over the last year.

Aimed at IT and digital SMEs, freelancers and start-ups, delegates can expect to network with technology partners, thought leaders, business innovators and support organisations. The UKITA EXPO hopes to become the largest event dedicated to the West Midlands IT and digital industry.

UKITA members have the opportunity to exhibit for free.

To attend you need to reserve one of the limited spaces available by registering at: http://agmexpo2012.eventbrite.co.uk/
