Live Budget Event

Black Country businesses will be tapping into the knowledge of a panel of experts when a Budget event is held in Wolverhampton.

Organisations from across the region are being invited to the event held by Wolverhampton Business Solutions Centre (WBSC) - based at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park on Glaisher Drive - to coincide with Chancellor George Osborne’s statement on Wednesday, March 20.

After watching the Budget at Innovation 1st Project’s new state-of-the-art visualisation centre, located next to WBSC, business professionals will take part in an open forum, which will include a question and answer session with a panel of experts.

The panel is to be chaired by WSBC manager Gary Dimmock and will also include Professor Mike Haynes and Dr Stuart Farquhar from the University of Wolverhampton Business School, Paul Forrest from Forrest Research and the West Midlands Economic Forum, along with Tony Elliott, tax director at the Birmingham office of national accountancy firm Chantrey Vellacott DFK.

Gary said the event will provide firms with a perfect opportunity to tap into expert analysis of the measures announced.

“With support from our key partners, such as the University of Wolverhampton, we work hard to support start-up firms and existing businesses through a range of services and we hope a host of Black Country organisations will be able to join us on March 20,” he said.

“We’re all hoping George Osborne will announce a series of measures which will encourage and stimulate business growth and employment and we’re delighted to have assembled a hugely knowledgeable panel to analyse and share thoughts on the economic picture and importantly how the measures will impact on business.”

Tony Elliott, who is based at Chantrey Vellacott DFK’s Birmingham office on Calthorpe Road, added: “Every year the Budget includes a raft of tax implications that businesses and individuals need to be aware of. The panel will be working together to quickly dissect as much of the information as possible and hopefully give a succinct and interesting overview of how the measures will affect the region.”
