Press release -

New solution to minimize the negative effects of jetlag

Finally, travellers around the world can arrive energized and hydrated after a long-haul flight. In the next few days Uppy! – The genius flyer will be launched. Uppy! is a new product that helps your body to cope with dry air in the flight cabin. Rehydration supplements, minerals and vitamins are the key ingredients that will help travellers to arrive to their destination in tip-top shape.

"I've flown a lot in my life, with back-to-back meetings upon arrival and have arrived home tired and exhausted," says Olle Marköö, founder of Uppy! AB. "In the end, I decided to find a solution."

Olle Marköö began developing a new product which aims to mitigate the negative side effects of jetlag as well as strengthening the immune system. Together with his team, he developed a product that has now evolved into a new business: Uppy! - The genius flyer.

"It's about maintaining fluid balance in the flight cabins extremely dry air," says Olle Marköö.

He further explains that the humidity in an aircraft cabin is as low as 10-20 per cent, which corresponds to the humidity in the Sahara. Meanwhile, the pressure in the cabin corresponds to 2500 meters altitude. This environment takes its toll on your body, and a long flight of four hours or more will make you lose salts and minerals, making the negative side effects of jet-lag even more detrimental.

Uppy is designed in the form of an effervescent tablet that dissolves in a glass of water. To achieve the optimum effect we recommend that you take one tablet every four hours.

"Uppy contains important electrolytes that help to restore the body's fluid balance. Vitamins D and C as well as zinc and selenium helps the body to maintain a normal functioning immune system, while vitamin B12 and magnesium helps reduce fatigue and exhaustion, "says Tina Almstedt, product developer with a Masters degree in Chemistry from Chalmers.

Uppy! has been evaluated by the crew of a major airline. Per de la Motte, who works as a long-haul flight captain says:

“To work as a pilot or as part of the cabin crew on long-haul flights can be tremendously tiresome for your body. Like most travellers we turned to water and coffee to stay hydrated and alert, however, after continuously using Uppy! we have found a new more efficient way to stay hydrated during long-flights. Several individuals of my cabin-crew are now trying Uppy! and have given us very positive feedback.”

Olle Marköö highlights that Uppy! have been developed in cooperation with nutritional experts with the long-term vision to help all travellers around the world – no matter if you’re flying around the world or domestically.

“The traveller have the right to feel alert and well throughout his entire journey”, concludes Olle Marköö
