Commitment to enhancing offshore marine safety

Jamie Grant, senior fleet manager, V.Ships Offshore Aberdeen has been appointed to the UK’s Marine Safety Forum steering group

The Forum promotes good practice and initiatives to enhance safety within the marine sector of the oil and gas industry. With representation from ship owners and managers, oil and gas companies as well as trade associations and government agencies, members collaborate and share information through working groups.

Jamie has spent the past 17 years in the offshore industry and with his engineering background and 10 years as an active crew member with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) he brings a great deal of experience to the Marine Safety Forum.

“I’m looking forward to being more involved with the Marine Safety Forum,” says Jamie. “Working in collaboration with our industry peers is important at all levels and benefits the whole sector – not just our business.”

“We are creating a centre of excellence for our offshore operations here in Aberdeen. At the heart of this is our commitment to safe and compliant operations. The shared learnings with the Marine Safety Forum along with our own initiatives demonstrate our continued investment in people at sea and ashore as well as our technology and systems,” he adds.
