Educational materials help seafarers understand their human rights

V.Group’s training business, Marlins, partnered with Human Rights At Sea to develop a range of educational materials that will help seafarers understand their human rights.

The first of these materials – a short animated film and an infographic have just been launched on Human Rights At Sea's website with the aim of encouraging open discussion of this often emotional and sensitive topic.

Also involved in developing the content was the Bristol University Human Rights Implementation Centre.

Callum Fleming, multimedia developer, Marlins says: “This can be a complex and emotional topic and we wanted to create a contemporary, engaging video that would help all seafarers, regardless of their nationality, understand what their human rights are.”

Catherine Logie, manager, Marlins adds: “The whole team was very proud to have been involved in such an important topic as this. We have started work on the second video in the series and we hope that not only will this help seafarers understand the topic, it also helps to highlight to the public the human rights issues that sadly do exist.”
