V.Ships Shanghai hosts official opening ceremony

The opening of our new V.Ships Shanghai office was marked with an official ceremony on Tuesday 12 April at the Shanghai Pudong Four Seasons hotel, which was attended by Xu Guo Yi, Director of Ministry of Transport Shanghai combined port management committee office.

The office is co-located in the Pudong area alongside our joint venture – China International Ship Management (CISM), who manages big container vessels and very large crude carriers for the China Shipping Group.

The establishment of an office in Shanghai marks a commitment to continuing to develop our business in China as Bob Bishop, V.Group Executive Director explains: “It is 10 years since we started operations here in Shanghai.

We were a leader then and we are a leader now, offering management support and solutions, which stretch way beyond simple ship management. We are investing in the future – both in our seafarers as well as our systems, which brings options for change and development to our new venture here in the Shanghai Pudong Free Trade Zone.”

Alex Bilokon, Managing Director of V.Ships Shanghai adds: “This marks the next step in V.Group expanding in China and we appreciate the local and central government support.”

To mark the occasion, we hosted a knowledge sharing session with leading shipping and trade representatives to explore the role of international ship managers in the Shanghai Pudong Free Trade Zone as part of the China Government’s One Belt, One Road programme. The keynote presentation was made by Satnam Kumar, V.Group Business Development Director – Asia Pacific – emphasizing the role of ship managers and reiterating the commitment of V.Ships to the development and success of the Free Trade Zone under the One Belt, One Road programme.
