Press release -

Congratulations Carradales!

A newly renovated boutique guest house has been awarded five stars following a grading from VisitScotland.

Carradales Luxury Guest House, situated in the village of Carradale in the stunning surroundings of the Kintyre Peninsula, received five stars from the national tourism organisation’s Quality Assurance (QA) Scheme in recognition of its exceptional standards. The QA Scheme is a benchmark for quality across the tourism industry and operates across accommodation, visitor attractions and food sectors.

This beautiful Victorian home has undergone a complete transformation using a mixture of modern and classic elements to offer individually designed guest rooms, creating a relaxing and comfortable space for visitors staying at Carradales.

Not only does Carradales boast high end comfort but also provides an unforgettable culinary experience. Professional Chef, Steve Reed, has an impressive background in all things food, having previously cooked for celebrity clients. Presenting a menu that shines a spotlight on local produce from the Campbeltown area, the Guest House recently achieved VisitScotland’s Taste Our Best Award.

Based in the heart of Kintyre, owners Maurice Whelan and Steve Reed have a strong passion for the region and have joined VisitScotland’s iKnow Partner programme. This accreditation demonstrates the owner’s in-depth knowledge and expertise on topics around the Campbeltown area, further enhancing the experience of visitors to Carradales Guest House.

Maurice Whelan, co-owner of Carradales Guest House said, “Myself and Steve here at Carradales are absolutely delighted and feel very proud to have received five stars from VisitScotland. We strive to give our guests the very best stay here in Carradale and this achievement showcases our hard work and dedication, so it’s fantastic to receive this recognition. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to Carradales.”

David Adams McGilp, VisitScotland Regional Director, said “Congratulations to Maurice and Steve for this outstanding achievement. This luxury Guest House is a shining example of the quality experience on offer in Kintyre.

“The Quality Assurance award scheme helps businesses to reach their full potential and truly shine. The star rating reflects the entire visitor experience, as well as the investment in the business to make it as economically sustainable and profitable as it can be.”
