Fife on film!

A new TV advertising campaign, showcasing some of Fife’s visitor attractions, has been launched by VisitScotland in partnership with Fife Council, and hopes to inspire people to visit the Kingdom of Fife.

The advert, which airs for the first time tonight ( Mon 25th May) on STV and complements VisitScotland’s Brilliant Moments campaign, follows a couple as they take a break from the city to experience some of the many things to see and do in Fife.

With its rich history and heritage, stunning coastline, world-famous golf courses and a mouth-watering food and drink offering, the Kingdom of Fife is a popular destination for visitors.

In celebration of the Year of Food and Drink 2015, viewers of the advert are offered a taste of Fife’s culinary delights, as well as an introduction to some of the region’s first-class attractions and activities, including:

Wildlife at the Scottish Deer Centre - One of Fife’s top visitor attractions, set in the Fife countryside, covering over 55 acres, visitors can view close up 14 species of deer from around the world, Fife's only Wolf pack, otters, bears and other rare Scottish species including the wildcat as well as enjoy bird of prey displays.

A boat trip to the Isle of May - Anchored on the edge of the Firth of Forth, the Isle of May is a magical mix of sea birds, seals and smugglers. In early summer the cliffs are heaving with nesting sea birds in a noisy spectacle you can witness from the cliff top path. The island is also home to the unmistakeable puffin, a comical looking bird that dazzles visitors with its brightly coloured bill.

Afternoon tea at the Old Course Hotel - With its unique location on the world’s most famous golf course, Kohler Waters Spa, decadent dining and the utmost attention to detail, Fife’s award-winning AA five-star resort, The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, is the ultimate hotel experience.

Tasting fresh langoustines at East Pier Smokehouse - The winner of two Great Taste awards in 2011 and famed for their langoustines, East Pier Smokehouse serves fresh local produce with a view!

Sampling 19th hole brew at Eden Mill - Scotland’s only distillery and brewery on a single site, Eden Mill is based on the site of a former Haig distillery at Guardbridge near St Andrews, producing award-winning beer and gin as well as small batch single malt whisky.

Award-winning fish and chips in Anstruther - Award-winning fish and chips and fresh local seafood have always been synonymous with Anstruther – and the ‘famous’ Anstruther Fish Bar. The unique restaurant and takeaway has always been a favourite of local residents and tourists alike.

Cycling along the Fife Coastal Path – Stretching over 117 miles from Kincardine to Tayport, the Fife Coastal Path is Scotland’s longest continuous walk and is among the country’s Great Trails.

Councillor Lesley Laird, Fife Council Depute Leader, said: “We’re really excited about this new Fife TV campaign which showcases the region to visitors. It will be aired in the run up to the Open and is sure to inspire people to visit and explore the area.

“Fife is the Home of Golf, but there’s so much more to the region to attract visitors. It’s a destination which has something for everyone, with some fantastic hidden gems to discover and the advert certainly shows these brilliant moments.”

Manuela Calchini, VisitScotland Regional Partnerships Manager, added: “There really are so many brilliant moments to be had in Fife that it was impossible to cram them all into a 60-second advert. I hope the finished product will whet the appetite of viewers by giving them just a taste of what a trip to the Kingdom can offer, particularly during this Year of Food and Drink.

“This summer, all eyes will be on Fife as the region plays hosts to one of the country’s biggest golfing events, The Open Championship at the Home of golf in St Andrews. But golf is just a small part of Fife’s tourism experience. With award-winning eateries, breathtaking coastlines, rich history and unforgettable attractions the Kingdom has something to suit all tastes.”

One of the attractions to feature in the advert is Eden Mill, Paul Miller, Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to feature in this new Fife tv advert.Fife has so much to offer visitors and with The Open Championship this year in St Andrews, all eyes will be on our Kingdom. Our brewing and distilling team have created some unique beers and our limited edition Golf Gin using some special local ingredients. We look forward to sharing these with our guests over the summer months.”

The advert, entitled Brilliant Moments in Kingdom of Fife will air nationwide on STV for 7 days starting on Monday 25 May.
