Press release -

Scotland a fitting place to hold business events

Scotland’s oldest bespoke tailor, which counts Sir Walter Scott among its list of illustrious former clients, will this week be showing why Scotland is the best fit for business events.

Edinburgh-based Stewart Christie will provide an on-stand pop-up shop on the VisitScotland stand as a dozen Scottish tourism companies attend the UK’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Exhibitions) tradeshow in London.

VisitScotland’s Business Events team is leading the delegation to The Meetings Show at London Olympia, which runs from tomorrow until Thursday.

The national tourism organisation will be joined on its stand by businesses from Aberdeen, Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow and Perthshire.

The Scotland delegation will be among more than 700 of the finest destinations, hotels, venues, destination management companies and technology providers exhibiting on the show floor.

More than 3,000 meetings industry professionals are expected to attend the show to take advantage of the new connections, networking opportunities and education programme offered across the three days of the show.

During the event, VisitScotland will give presentations on new and alternative activities for groups in Scotland, while the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre will give a presentation on the new £333 million venue, which is due to open in 2019.

Mihri Miralem, Market Manager for London & South England at VisitScotland Business Events, said: “As the largest show of its kind in the UK, The Meetings Show is the perfect opportunity for VisitScotland and its partners to demonstrate exactly why Scotland is the perfect destination to hold meetings, conferences, events and exhibitions. The Meetings Show will provide Scottish businesses with an invaluable opportunity to meet face-to-face with influential event organisers from across the UK and further afield and help boost Scotland’s visitor economy.”
