Shining bright!

A Glasgow shopping centre is enjoying an early Christmas present after receiving VisitScotland’s highest quality assurance award.

Silverburn, which is located in the Pollok area of Glasgow, was awarded a five-star grading from the national tourism organisation.

The centre, which boasts over 100 stores, was praised for continuing to provide excellent standards of cleanliness and service. Staff were commended for the efficient way they dealt with customer enquiries, helping to create a memorable and long-lasting positive impressions on those visiting the complex.

As well as already providing a number of different food and drink outlets, Silverburn’s five-star grading reflects its inclusion of facilities such as mobile charging points and a ‘changing places room’ designed to help visitors with access requirements. There was also praise for the active role the centre plays in the local community, including the running of a Community Garden.

David Pierotti, General Manager of Silverburn said: "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this five-star grading from VisitScotland. We are pleased that they have recognised us for our continued excellent service and facility standards. We have made a number of significant investments in the centre over the last year to ensure that our customers shopping experiences are as enjoyable and convenient as possible, including the addition of hand free shopping, click and collect and a Changing Places toilet facility. This award is a testament to the entire team's continued hard work and dedication which makes Silverburn a five-star destination location."

Liz Buchanan MBE, VisitScotland Regional Director said: “My congratulations go to everyone at Silverburn on the outstanding achievement of a five-star grading. It is well deserved recognition of the quality of the visitor experience, which the team is continuing to develop further.

“Our Quality Assurance schemes are world-leading and provide a trusted, independent and impartial source of information for visitors. The star rating reflects the entire visitor experience, as well as the investment in the business to make it as economically sustainable and profitable as it can be. The team at the Silverburn can be justly proud of their achievement.”

The VisitScotland Quality Assurance scheme, which has been developed and improved over 30 years, provides visitors with an independent, impartial and trusted guide to standards.
