Press Release

You can now download all movies on Voddler – Voddler world first with offline mode also for ad-funded, free movies

Feb 17, 2012 08:53 GMT

When Voddler launched its offline mode-functionality in December, it was among the first VOD-services to offer the opportunity to watch online rental movies even without a web-connection.  Voddler now expands the feature to include its thousands of ad-funded films, commonly called “free movies”. This makes Voddler the world’s first commercial VOD-service to offer both rental and free movies for download.

-        Our goal has always been to offer all titles for offline viewing, regardless of which revenue model they use. Today we reach that goal, says Anders Sjöman, VP Communication at Voddler.

Over 4,500 titles from the world’s largest film studios are now available for both streaming and download. Viewers can download films they want to see in advance of, for instance, a trip. The currently most popular movies on Voddler are here.

For rental movies on Voddler, you can download them for offline viewing after you’ve paid the movie’s rental price. You then have two weeks to make use of your 48-hour rental period.

Free titles can be downloaded when you want, provided you are a Voddler Plus-member. During 30 days, you can watch each movie as many times as you want before it is deactivated. Every movie can be downloaded again. There are no limitations to number of movies, other than what your computer can store.

The membership service Voddler Plus, which is required to download free movies, cost 79 KR or 7,90 EUR per month. Voddler Plus-membership also gives access to close to 200 selected rentals at no extra costs, completely commercial-free viewing, and other benefits. More info at www.voddler.com/plus.

Voddler’s offline mode currently works on PC and Mac. To see a downloaded Voddler-film, you need Voddler’s offline player, which is installed automatically the first time you download a movie from Voddler. More about Voddler’s offline mode at http://voddlertalk.voddler.com/2011/offlinemode/.

Depending on content owners’ requests, some titles may only be available for streaming, not download.
