Press release -
14-20 October is Get Online Week in Denbighshire
Get Online Week – the UK’s biggest annual campaign to get people using the internet - will take place from 14 - 20 October and people from Denbighshire are being urged to get involved. Whether you want to get connected, get a job, get healthy or get a bargain, using the internet can make everything quicker and easier.
This October, people in Denbighshire can find out how getting online could save them time, hassle and even money. Informal drop-in sessions are being run across Denbighshire which will introduce people to the basics of buying and selling online. Many people avoid using e-commerce sites such as Amazon and Ebay because of concerns about security and consumer rights as well as lack of confidence with the technology. They’ll be given help and guidance in time to make savings online for Christmas.
The sessions are being run by Lon Vaughan with backing from Communities 2.0, the Welsh Government’s digital inclusion initiative, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Local Communities 2.0 Broker Craig Hughes said:
“Getting online is so important these days and is becoming even more so. Our sessions during Get Online Week are designed for people who have never shopped online before and will be run by friendly and approachable staff. So even if you’ve always thought internet shopping is not for you, why not come along and find out what it’s all about. What have you got to lose?”
