Press release -
14-20 October is Get Online Week in South Wales
Get Online Week – the UK’s biggest annual campaign to get people using the internet - will take place from 14 - 20 October and people across South Wales will be taking part in activities across the county to mark the event.
Whether you want to get connected, get a job, get healthy or get a bargain, using the internet can make everything quicker and easier. During Get Online Week, people in South Wales can find out how getting online could save them time, hassle and even money. Events will take place across Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr Tydfil, Torfaen and Rhondda Cynon Taf, designed to encourage people to use IT effectively to search for jobs, save money or stay in contact with friends and family.
The sessions are being run by initiatives across the region with support from Communities 2.0, the Welsh Government’s digital inclusion initiative, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Communities 2.0 Project Director Cathryn Marcus said:
“Getting online is so important these days and is becoming even more so. The sessions during Get Online Week are designed to introduce people to digital technology in a fun way. So even if you’ve always thought the internet is not for you, why not come along and find out what it’s all about. What have you got to lose?”
