Community arts charity wins Welsh Government backing for ICT improvements

Artis Community, a community arts charity based in Pontypridd, has received backing from Communities 2.0, the Welsh Government’s digital inclusion programme. The support will help the organisation to deliver its visual arts and dance activities with a number of different groups, by bringing its ICT and administration equipment up to date.

Artis Community works with local community organisations, professional arts organisations, schools and higher education colleges, to give them opportunities to take part in visual arts and dance projects.

The charity is making its new ICT improvements after receiving an ICT review from Communities 2.0. The review helped the organisation assess its existing equipment and identify training needs and this support will help Artis Community to upgrade new equipment, install more efficient internet connections and implement training on business software such as Sage accounting.

Communities 2.0 is a Welsh Government programme which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Wendy York is a Director of Artis Community. She commented

“Not only are we delighted at being notified of the success of our application, but we have been really impressed at the depth of knowledge, expertise and professionalism of Communities 2.0 officers.   We have no doubt that their extremely thorough ICT review and also guidance during application phases, has ensured we will have the ICT infrastructure we need to meet continue delivering community arts in RCT.”

Communities 2.0 project director Cathryn Marcus commented:

“Communities 2.0 is delighted to be able to add its support to this timely investment in Artis Community. The charity offers an important service in Rhondda Cynon Taf and this investment will help the organisation to deliver its services more efficiently and effectively.”
