Denbighshire voluntary services council wins Welsh Government backing to move into the ‘cloud’

Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council (DVSC), has received backing from Communities 2.0, the Welsh Government’s digital inclusion programme. The support will assist the organisation to upgrade business critical ICT equipment, increase efficiency and lower maintenance costs.

Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council is implementing its new ICT improvements after receiving an ICT review from Communities 2.0. The review helped the organisation assess its existing equipment and identify training needs. This support will help the charity to upgrade its equipment and its online presence.

Communities 2.0 is a Welsh Government programme which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council provides a lead for the third sector in the County. The organisation acts as a focal point for charities, organisations and third sector enterprises whilst liaising with the statutory sector. It offers low cost training courses for volunteers and employees, funding advice, volunteer recruitment services, advice on establishing and running community groups and regular newsletters.

John Watkin is Chief Executive Officer of Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council. He commented:

“We are delighted with success of our application and grateful to the Communities 2.0 officers who have assisted us through this process. We have no doubt that their extremely thorough ICT review has ensured we will have the ICT infrastructure we need to continue delivering to the volunteer sector in Denbighshire."

Communities 2.0 project director Cathryn Marcus commented:

“Communities 2.0 is delighted to be able to add its support to the work that Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council undertakes. The organisation offers a vital service in North Wales and this investment will help it to deliver its services more efficiently and effectively.”
