Flintshire Local Voluntary Council wins Welsh Government backing to move into the ‘cloud’

Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC) has received backing from Communities 2.0, the Welsh Government’s digital inclusion programme. The support will increase the organisation’s efficiency by improving office performance and replacing equipment that is no longer fit for purpose.

Communities 2.0 is a Welsh Government programme which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Communities 2.0 has supported the FLVC with an investment of nearly £5,000, which will help it to save costs, modernise its IT infrastructure and move to cloud computing. Communities 2.0 has also provided technical expertise and advice.

Flintshire Local Voluntary Council is the lead organisation for the voluntary sector in Flintshire. The organisation provides a range of services for the sector, often working in collaboration with Flintshire Council, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board as well as other major stakeholders across the public and third sectors. FLVC offer a number of successful commercial services including a print shop, office accommodation, meeting room hire and training as well as payroll services and administrative support. By looking to migrate to ‘the cloud’ (along with other CVCs in North Wales) FLVC will be embracing new technologies as a way to future-proof their organisation.

Kieran Duff is the Chief Officer at Flintshire Local Voluntary Council. He commented:

“Support from Communities 2.0 will enable FLVC to upgrade its IT equipment in readiness for its planned move to using "cloud-based" services. It will give the organisation much greater flexibility and capacity to meet future challenges.”

Communities 2.0 project director Cathryn Marcus commented:

“Communities 2.0 is delighted to be able to add its support to these essential new developments for Flintshire Local Voluntary Council. The investment will help the organisation to support voluntary organisations across Flintshire so they can continue to deliver essential services in the community. The new technology will safeguard the investment and ensure that Flintshire Local Voluntary Council is equipped to face future challenges.”
