‘Have a go’ on IT in Adult Learners Week and Digital Day 2014

Friday 20th June is Digital Day, and this year there are plenty of opportunities to ‘have a go’ on the internet, computers and tablets at surgeries and drop-in sessions across North Wales, which are hosted by the Welsh Government’s Communities 2.0 programme.

‘Digital Day’ is part of Adult Learners Week, an annual campaign run by NIACE which gives adults the opportunity to try new activities with hundreds of free taster events. Digital Day comes at the end of the week and is focused on getting people to engage with technology Events hosted by Communities 2.0 will include basic IT workshops, tablet and e-reader demos, social media tasters, and digital skills sessions.

Cathryn Marcus is Project Director of Communtiies 2.0. She commented,

“It’s increasingly important to get online to stay in touch with friends and to access training and jobs but many people are put off by the technology. These sessions are designed to let people have a go at computers and the internet in a friendly and informal environment. Getting to grips with the internet shouldn’t be intimidating and Communities 2.0 initiatives are here to help”.

Communities 2.0 is a Welsh Government programme which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
