Press release -

“Now’s the time to get online” goes mobile

A new series of drop in sessions will soon be on offer for people who are having trouble with their tablets or problems with their laptops. Rhondda Cynon Taf’s mobile library service will be offering a series of ‘drop-in’ sessions from next week.

Communities 2.0, the Welsh Governments National Digital Outreach Project, working in conjunction with Rhondda Cynon Taf Libraries, will be offering ‘IT drop-in’ and ‘Bring your own device’ sessions on the mobile library bus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from September 2nd 2014. An IT tutor will be on the mobile library bus from September onwards when it stops at Penrhiwceiber (Tues 2nd), Tylorstown (Thurs 4th), Beddau (Thurs 9th) and Maerdy (Thurs 11th) between 5pm-8pm to offer advice and support. Each area is visited by the mobile library bus at these times once every two weeks.

The National Digital Outreach Project aims to ensure, that in this digital age, people living in Wales are able to make use of the many advantages the internet can offer.

Communities 2.0 is Welsh Government programme, which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Delyth Rees, Communities 2.0’s Digital Outreach Coordinator (South Wales and the Valleys) commented:

“This is a great opportunity for people who may never have used a computer or would like to find out more about getting online. Our friendly tutors can help you to do what you want to do on the internet; whether that’s saving money, emailing, or using social media to keep in touch with friends and relatives."
