Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum benefits from Welsh Government ICT support package

Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum, a Community Interest Company which works with stakeholders to promote a sustainable approach to management of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Zone, has received a package of support from Communities 2.0, the Welsh Government’s digital inclusion programme. The support and training will help the organisation to develop and maintain their own ICT systems.

Communities 2.0 is a Welsh Government programme which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Communities 2.0 has provided Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum with technical expertise and advice and will train staff members in using new equipment and software such as Microsoft Office, as well as training on social media to support new marketing initiatives. Communities 2.0 has also supported the organisation with an investment which will help it to install a completely new IT infrastructure, update software and purchase equipment for public engagement activities.

Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum works towards the sustainable management of coastal areas across Pembrokeshire and Wales, delivering a variety of services including project management, business support and stakeholder engagement. The organisation operates collaboratively across many sectors including contracts and projects with local authorities, Welsh Government and Park Authorities. The organisation also leads the Marine Energy Pembrokeshire Project which has set out a multi-agency approach to marine energy generation in the area.

Tonia Forsyth is Chief Executive of Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum. She commented: “Support from Communities 2.0 will enable Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum to deploy up to date and functional ICT to allow us cater for our longer term objectives of providing services further afield across Wales”.

Communities 2.0 project director Cathryn Marcus commented: “Communities 2.0 is delighted to be able to add its support to this timely investment in Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum. The investment will help the organisation to deliver its important environmental and sustainability work across Pembrokeshire and Wales.”
