Youth Employment UK Awards Zoodikers Gold Standard

Zoodikers, a strategic and creative PR and social media agency, has been awarded the Gold Standard by Youth Employment UK (YEUK), the leading campaigning and membership organisation dedicated to tackling youth unemployment in the UK, in recognition of being a Youth Friendly Business.

The Youth Friendly accreditation is awarded to organisations, which support young people and are dedicated to reducing the number of young people not in education, employment or training.

Zoodikers exceeded on all 8 youth-friendly behaviour requirements, including commitment to two activities providing youth support in the community.

Katie King, Managing Director of Zoodikers, comments: “I am extremely pleased Zoodikers has been recognised as a Youth Friendly organisation. As somebody who was lucky enough to receive encouragement from a supportive family and inspiring teachers, it’s important for myself and for Zoodikers to ‘giveback’ to the community.

Through the youth friendly initiatives we’ve developed such as our Project STEP campaign in association with Haringey Sixth Form Centre, we hope to motivate and enthuse young people into thinking about their first steps on the career ladder and reduce the level of young people not in education, employment or training.”

Laura-Jane Rawlings, CEO of Youth Employment UK, comments: “I am delighted that Zoodikers applied for the Youth Friendly badge, it is clear that the organisation has a real passion for supporting young people and indeed promoting its sector as an exciting career choice. That Zoodikers received the Gold Award is no surprise, when an organisation puts so much passion into helping the next generation they should receive the highest accolade. Zoodikers offer an excellent example of what a business can do to support young people by offering careers talks and opportunities to gain necessary skills for work.

Youth unemployment is still a major challenge for young people in the UK, if more businesses were able to find a way to reach out to just a few young people a year we know this would have a major impact in reducing youth unemployment and closing the skills gap. Well done to Zoodikers and their team for taking those steps!”

In addition to Project STEP, Katie King is working alongside Inspiring Futures to provide secondary school pupils with careers advice for entering the PR industry and guidance on making suitable career choices.
