“Pont du Gard walk”
We walked alongside the remains of this amazing Roman aqueduct, which took us to the Pont du Gard itself. Following the aqueduct meant it was impossible to get lost!
This serene valley outside St Remy was home to an old Roman town, littered with wildflowers and bright red poppies.
For a while this monastery was home to Van Gogh. It was easy to see why it inspired his paintings.
We crossed the river from Avignon in a little ferry boat, and then walked along a quiet canal towards Villeneuve les Avignon. The skyline was dominated by the imposing St Andre Fort. Fortunately the rain held off!
