Community Post: A Taste of Ireland

Blog post   •   Oct 30, 2012 21:18 GMT

In what has become true Ramblers tradition, interested clients were welcomed by RWH Joint Managing director, Tony Lock, as well as Miriam O’Connell from Tourism Ireland in the UK.

Throughout the evening, a number of fascinating presentations took place. They began with David Kay introducing RWH holidays and Ireland as a destination.  He then spoke briefly about the phenomenal walking packages that have been put together in Ireland.

Christopher Somerville the well known Travel Writer, then elaborated on David’s presentation and highlighted how exciting Ireland is for the walking community. The country has just recently opened up many walking and rambling paths that have been virtually unexplored by tourists. The novelty of the new routes combined with tremendous Irish hospitality is guaranteed to make for a remarkable walking holiday.

The presentations were then rounded off by Tony Lock thanking all of RWH’s clients for attending the event and also sending a special thanks to the members of Tourism Ireland for all of their generosity.

Then, the cocktail reception began. The atmosphere was phenomenal as traditional Irish dancers and an Irish folk band enchanted guests. A looped DVD depicting walking in Ireland, provided by Failte Ireland, began playing in the background furthering everyone’s desire to travel to this stunning country.

Of course, we can’t forget to mention the mouth-watering Irish stew created by Leon (our chef for the night) that satisfied all of our taste buds and, of course, the Guinness.

The night was a tremendous success! Thanks to everyone who helped with all the arrangements.  To see more please check out our facebook album.
