Celebrating Adult Learners’ Week across the borough

Rochdale Borough Libraries in partnership with Hopwood Hall College are hosting taster sessions for four courses to highlight Adult Learners’ Week.

The tasters have been organised to give adults an insight into the types of community education available locally and to get more people in the borough learning.

Adult Learners’ Week, now in its 23rd year, has helped thousands of adults throughout the country get back into learning. This year it runs from 14 – 21 June, with the taster sessions starting in libraries from Monday 16 June. The sessions will be repeated during the week beginning 21 July to give more people the chance to try a new skill.

Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Customer Services said:

“This is a great opportunity for adults in the borough to experience the types of courses available at Hopwood Hall College and to see how the courses can help them. People can sample more than one if they wish and see which best suits their learning needs.”

Hopwood Hall’s mission is ‘to provide the widest range of quality education and training to learners in the borough of Rochdale and beyond, to ensure they achieve their individual, educational and employment goals, whilst meeting the skills needs of the region’.

If the taster sessions are popular, it is planned that the full 6-10 week courses will be offered in Rochdale Borough Libraries from September, making education much more accessible.
