Rodenstock sets new standards in self-tinting lenses with ColorMatic IQ® 2

Press Release   •   Feb 26, 2016 09:00 GMT

Rodenstock presents ColorMatic IQ® 2, a new generation of self-tinting lenses based on exciting new dyes with a unique molecular structure. New attractive very true colours together with even deeper tinting on hot days, and in the shade, make them into the ideal companion for everyday life. One lens ensures comfortable vision around the clock, both indoors and outdoors.

Pure Grey, Chocolate Brown and Racing Green are the new design colours, providing a functional and stylish look across the entire range. The very rich Chocolate Brown has a contrast enhancing effect, Pure Grey provides a natural colour reproduction, whilst Racing Green is characterised by its very soothing and relaxing effect. In addition, the lenses keep their true colour during the entire darkening process.

As a pioneer in the area of self-tinting plastic lenses for over 30 years, Rodenstock developed the new colours in the company's own laboratories in Munich. After being worn for a long time, the lenses continue to darken reliably, become lighter again and provide the wearer with perfect vision. In addition, the molecular structure ensures outstanding colour stability – year after year.

The new photochromic molecules are bigger and react more sensitively to UV light, which means the spectacle wearer experiences perfect tinting in the shade as well. They make it possible to have darker tinting than before at higher temperatures, and provide the perfect balance between the degree of tinting, becoming lighter quickly and clarity indoors.

Available from UK opticians from 1 April 2016.
