Luke Alderwick - The University of Birmingham

Talk Topic: Phenotypic and target based drug discovery research at the University of Birmingham

Luke is a Lecturer at the University of Birmingham investigating the biochemistry and molecular genetics of cell wall assembly in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative bacterial agent of TB. Luke is also the director of the University of Birmingham Drug Discovery and Screening Facility - this cutting edge research facility will enable university research groups to undertake drug discovery research in areas such as infectious diseases and cancer.

Emma Davis - Centre for Integrated Genomic Medical Research (CIGMR)

Talk Topic: Validation of New Systems in an ISO Certified Environment

Emma works as QA Technician for the UK DNA Biobanking Network based at the Centre for Integrated Genomic Medical Research (CIGMR) at the University of Manchester. The Centre is ISO9001:2008 certified and manages the UK DNA Biobanking Network Collection for the MRC as well as several other research collections. The Centre collects, extracts, stores and distributes DNA within a carefully designed process ensuring data and material quality and integrity

Adrian Haines - Lonza Biologics

Talk Topic:  Specifying and Installing Robotics for Cell Culture Automation

Adrian is a Senior Principal Scientist in Process Development Sciences at Lonza Biologics where he leads projects to develop and introduce new technologies and processes into Lonza’s in-house cell line construction programs. Lonza is a global leader in the production and support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both chemically and biotechnologically, as well as in microbial control.

Suzanne Norval - The University of Dundee

Talk Topic: Establishment of an In Vitro equilibrium dialysis method for the measurement of plasma protein and brain tissue binding 

Suzanne is an In Vitro Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetic DMPK Scientist in the Drug Discovery Unit of the University of Dundee. The unit focuses on neglected tropical diseases and innovative targets/pathways and includes the full range of disciplines needed for early drug discovery. With the addition of the Hamilton STAR the DMPK group have automated all of their routine assays, including microsomal stability, aqueous solubility, cytochrome P450 inhibition and plasma protein and brain tissue binding.

Kate Jackson &amp; Nick Gresswell - LGC Forensics

Talk Topic: Keeping the PACE – High throughput DNA profiling for the National DNA Database

Kate and Nick are automation specialists in the DNA team at LGC Forensics and have been involved in many automation projects at all stages of the forensic DNA pipeline. LGC is the largest forensic science provider in the UK offering a comprehensive array of services to both private and public sector clients.

    &lt;p&gt;Hamilton Robotics Ltd is proud to announce our first Robotics User Meeting to be held on 7th September 2012 (after ELRIG Drug Discovery 5-6 September) at the Hilton Hotel, Deansgate, Manchester.

This will be an opportunity to listen to Scientific Presentations by existing Hamilton Users within United Kingdom and Ireland, meet other users as well as get updates from Hamilton about future developments and an opportunity for interactive feedback with technical specialists from Hamilton GB and Switzerland.

The "Genius Bar" will give you an opportunity to explore deck modules options and upgrades for your existing system to give enhanced functionality or for repurposing to a new project. If you have a tired old liquid handler then we can discuss options for trade-in for a STARLine instrument to help your workflow.

The final format and details will follow in due course. We are open to suggestions from existing users.
