More of the same: Study reveals winners and losers from climate and land-use change

New research from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Northumbria University has determined that as warm-loving species expand their ranges under climate change, Britain’s landscapes are losing their biological uniqueness.

Research shows the current diversity of tree species has been shaped by climate change over the last 21,000 years

A new global survey of 1,000 forest areas shows how past climate change has had a major impact on the diversity and distribution of the tree species we see today. The results can help to predict how ecosystems will react to future changes, helping to shape conservation management around the globe.

Key question around limestone carbon capture to be answered by partnership project

A mystery surrounding the implications of planting trees in areas of limestone bedrock, which is key to helping Britain reach its net zero target, is likely to be solved by a team led by researchers at Northumbria University.

BPW gets its grips on the brake force of unsprung agricultural machinery

Unsprung agricultural and forestry vehicles are feared obstacles on the road, and not only at harvest time: their brakes can only be adjusted by hand – a rather fiddly and risky guesswork. The EU has therefore tightened regulations. The answer from BPW is as simple as it is ingenious: with a patent-pending fully mechanical system, drivers now have the brakes quite literally in their hands.

Unbreakable – and pretty cool: the new generation of the indestructible Ermax tail lights, now even better with an LED chase

A tail light with a cool design and dynamic flashing – on an agricultural commercial vehicle of all things! The BPW Group will show that the attractive form of the next generation trailer tail lights is a continuation of its function at the Agritechnia trade fair (10-16 November in Hanover; Hall 15, Stand E05) – and why they're worthwhile for the vehicle operator and the environment.

‘Innovations in agricultural technology’ public choice award: BPW drive axle is gaining traction

25 per cent more traction for the trailer on wet and difficult ground conditions and higher loads with smaller towing vehicles: these system benefits provided by the ‘AGRO Drive’ hydraulic drive axle have given BPW a bestseller among farmers and contractors. As a result, the drive axle has now won the most important public choice award in the agricultural industry.

Six wards, six trees, six diamond celebrations

They were nominated by friends and family to plant a pear tree in each of Bury’s six townships. Pear trees are a symbol of immortality (because they live for a long time) and across Europe are often planted at weddings, as the longevity and fruitfulness of the trees are thought to give strength to the marriage and children.
